as soon as the word god is uttered, there is an unfortunate rift opened up between people.

i don't see the need to include the word "god" in our prayers, especially if it causes potential problems. the purpose of prayer is not to curry some special favor from some diety. the purpose of prayer is to clarify our intent, to dwell for a moment on what we want, instead of what we don't want.

why can't we just have the type of prayer in school that simply says, let's all go have a wonderful and beautiful day! let's be grateful for all the good in our life, and let's all go out and create more beauty and peace and joy, and just simply have a wonderful empowered life!
