i am by no means an expert on this subject but felt compelled to chime in. i too have thought about how best to train so i may better connect with my higher self and understand/do all the wonderful things i set out to accomplish in this life.

there's actually a psychic school really close to where i live, and i even attended a couple of workshops there. i grew up with a mother who read quite a bit of spiritual stuff and as a result have spent plenty of time in various "new age" shops.

none of this gives me any credential or real authority on the matter but i can at least share my own experiences.

i've come to find a lot of mixed polarity at these places. particularly the psychic school. they don't turn anyone away, not that they should, but upon walking in and talking to people you really get a sense that the place isn't nearly as positive as it tried to make itself seem.

metaphysical school is a hard one...you see, for me, i would wan't an accredited university if i was going to subscribe to a mandated curriculum. problem is, to be accredited those schools really have to go to great lengths in appeasing the public at large which doesn't subscribe to a lot of the ideas and concepts put forth in places like this...

it actually took a lot of lurking on these forums before i felt safe enough to start participating. they've (david and the moderators) gone to great lengths to ensure the integrity here and i'm sure are constantly making hard judgment calls on the material being put through.

i personally approach all groups and people within the new age community with a lot of caution. i've realized the insurmountable amount of resources here and find my plate completely full.

not that you should just start right here. if you feel a certain pull to this school, by all means, investigate it. thats how i've come here. but do it with caution.

perhaps it would be a good idea to take the time to read the material that serves as their foundation and seeing if it resonates with you. and since you are here on these forums it wouldn't hurt to read the outline of the law of one material (it's pretty quick):

and make sure to check out david's book recommendations:

really get a sense of who you are and what calls to you.

i actually have a personal little litmus test i use to validate if i can trust something or not. i always make sure my free will is being maintained. if i feel someone/something is infringing on my ability to make my own informed decisions, then i trust it a lot less. thats just what i use and according to the law of one, free will is one of the biggest laws there is. could be different for you though...

i can really relate as i have been seeking guidance for some time. i guess i've just concluded that for myself, my best teacher will be myself.
