i personally take melatonin which helps homeopathy (dreaming) very much in making it really vivid or lucid and seems to help the memory as well. it takes around a week to get your body in tune with it but helps out a lot. i have taken it for around 4 months earlier and don't do it too much anymore because it seems like now it comes naturally. i have read no bad side effects about melatonin nor experienced any.

i take a 3 mg pill 10 minutes before i sleep and usually let the tablet dissolve under my tongue then swallow the remains seeing how it doesn't really taste like anything and gets in your blood stream well that way as well as ingestion.

another big factor is being conscious of what you want to do before you fall a sleep. it takes some conscious effort as with anything. so before falling asleep try and focus on that which you want to do.

when you wake up slow down and don't get "in the world" too fast because it dissolves the lower brain wave state quickly at is harder to recall the dreams prior to the waking state. also some people have short periods when they wake up from dreams to fall back to sleep again in the middle of the night. everytime you wake up remember what just happened and you will notice you have many different dreams in the same night that will expand further and further the more aware you are.

i have practiced staying in the hypnogogic state for about half a year now anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour before going to sleep. you can wiki hypnogogic if you want to know what it is. that helps keep that mind set of conscious action in dreaming as well.

dreaming for me has been no easy feat. even though i do quite well with aspects of the mind and spirit when i consciously work on them this has took about 7 months before getting glimpses of lucidity and now i am starting to get precognition so it is paying of very well. i do not keep a dream journal but do note them in my head i am not sure if i should or not even though most people do recommend it so also keep that in mind.

that is what has helped me as far as i have ventured.
