I am not sure what your syncing problem is and whether the Vodafone network is involved. You may need to give more detail.
As far as Vodafone's obfuscation you could go to the Telecommunication Industry Ombudsman.
My recommendation is that you go to Whirlpool http://www.whirlpool.net.au. Click on "Discussion Forum" then on Wireless ISPs on the right hand side of the page. At the bottom of the Wireless ISPs page click on "New Thread". In "Group" click on Vodafone then put in an appropriate "Heading". Post an edited version of your email and their reply making sure you have deleted any personal identifying material such as name, phone No. etc.; and ask for some help in dealing with this. Apart from there being a number of smart operators on the forum, often Company reps are also there and can give better help than you will ever get from the help desk. You need to register to post on the forum if you aren't already a member but I am satisfied they are safe.
