Thanks for the reply guys!

Enochian, what was your mistake with the rope? What did you change in order to succeed?
Enochian will obviously be the one to answer this.

I do exactly what you say - I do not visualize the rope, I'm imagining it in my hands while I'm pulling my self up. This brings me a very strong sensation that something is exiting/separating from my limbs. I feel my limbs totally stiff and paralyzed. Also, I think my muscles tense a lot - not sure if this is good. I spend a lot of time on physical relaxation so I doubt this to be the problem. I'm actually pretty sure because I had occasions when I wake during the night feeling vibrations and whole body paralyzed. Then I attempt the rope but again I have the very same sensations but no projection at the end. The sensations you are describing are the correct sensations for the beginning of the process. However, it's possible that if you are feeling vibrations and seeing hypnagogics perhaps rope is not the technique you should do.
I use rope when I get vibrations, and when I want to 'force' an exit (or when I'm halfway out, etc.) But if I feel floaty already or dizzy, or huge, I do not use rope. That's because those sensations are an indication that you are already out, and doing rope actually centralizes you in your body, so it is like defeating the purpose.
If you are feeling floaty, swimmy, etc. before you get to the exit, try a different exit technique, like waterski, surfing, or swinging- something that uses the feeling of movement that you already are feeling.
If you don't feel any of those things, then rope is a good technique, provided that you do it long enough, (at least 45 minutes) and you don't roll over and go to sleep after declaring defeat- instead get up and walk around (I know I said this before, but it bears repeating). If you do these things and no dice, you can always back to trance, back to ebody loosening, and you can continue to gauge your sensations and taylor the exit technique to your needs. Remember there are many exit techniques, and you should try them all.
