We do have posts in the forums about the dangers of engaging in any kind of awareness-opening activities. However, if you take a look at the PSD and PSNA forums, you will see that a lot of people (me included) learned conscious astral projection as a way to deal with the problems we were already experiencing.
The truth is that any practice that teaches you to be aware of your unconscious processes will allow you to see what is commonly 'hidden', what already happens outside of your awareness. However, I do not believe that learning to AP will cause any problems- it will simply make you aware of what is
already
there.
Movies such as the one you quote usually sensationalize a single incident, or a series of incidents that happen to one person (or one family, etc.) However, if you look at many of these types of movies, that are supposed to be based on 'things that happened' to someone, you will find that in a lot of cases facts get shuffled around depending on the artistic vision or ideological vision of the director/producer, and that gives a skewed view of what actually happens, and it's causes.
