I've done it by accident repeatedly before I even knew the book existed. Considering the fact most ghost stories claim of seeing a transparent (which is a synonym for lucid - look in the dictionary) ghost, and putting two and two together it's not unreasonable to assume we may enter a lucid dream after we die.

What do we do in the afterlife? I'd think anything we want. You have no sense of time when dreaming, so getting bored probably isn't an option. I'd think you eventually feel a pull to reincarnate, but only at your own leisure.
