I would say... help her if you choose to, don't be guilted into it or feel obligated if you really feel it's going to be a liability to yourself, but yeah, it sounds like she may keep coming back whether you like it or not. Not meaning to sound uncompassionate or anything like that... I just think that we should never feel compelled to act through guilt or a sense of obligation; we should help solely because we deliberately choose to. IMO this is ultimately a healthier arrangement for all involved.

On another note, I've been doing some inner work on myself lately that might be relevant if you're worried about being negatively affected by other people's energy, living or dead. The gist of it was I figured out that the empathic aspect of myself was viewing other peoples' emotions as a personal assault for some reason, so in addition to feeling those emotions it was causing a bunch of anxiety issues.

What I did was dialogued with that aspect in meditation, and changed the way it was operating. From my private blog:

I fixed that one by telling that aspect that other peoples emotions are not to be seen as a threat, as they're theirs, not mine, and I can't and won't take responsibility for them beyond trying to interact in an open and understanding way. But also that other peoples' emotional states are not permitted to enter my personal space unless I deliberately try to connect with them, for info, healing or whatever. I may adjust that at some point in the future so I'm alerted to potential problems without having to seek them out directly. For now I'm loving the peace this has brought me, and am going to enjoy it for a while. The effect has been that even when I'm around upset people, I can tell they're upset but my own state doesn't change. I don't communicate with spirits (workin' on it!), but since you do, you could probably specify with your empathic aspect that communication gets through but negative emotions don't.
