I have had a few floating experiences in these past three four months. I didn't consciously induced them. It happened in either a lucid dream or when I was aware of sleeping on my bed. I wonder if this floating happened due to my anticipation of floating while in altered state of consciousness. But I definitely was not thinking of floating, since I was sleeping. In this state, thought seems to be able to produce the result right away. So while I have enough energy for floating, the minute I think of floating, I am able to float right up.
I believe that is the reason. If you have thought about it you have formulated the desire to do it, even though you haven't consciously thought about it. Your subconscious mind already has it's instructions. So awareness of the event is where the difference is.

Before floating, it's almost like I sense the energy gathering and I know I am about to be raised up. It's a force that I can't resist. If I don't want to float, I don't think I can stop it though. Is this your experience too? You can control it but you have to know how. Sometimes fear will abort the process but most of the time it'll happen unless you know how to stop it. And want to.
But I wonder why I never tried to fly away. Usually I was so excited that I didn't think of the next thing to do. That is common too, but you'll eventually maintain enough awareness to be able to plan.
