I think symbols are attempts at communicating things from beyond the edge of the universe where nothing exists as objects.

you really got me thinking with this one. Trees have probably been the most universal symbol for me, since I was a child I've had probably more mystical experiences with trees than anything else. A tree is a great symbol for the cosmos, and I tend to view them that way. This discussion has led me to revisit an old idea - that everything is in each thing - that the tree is a symbol for me, for magic, for the cosmos, also a gateway to my inner selves, etc., but also that we are symbols for those things, etc.

But beyond my personal affinity for trees, there were things that happened in this projection that I didn't write about because i didn't understand them ... and didn't have the words to describe them. I'd like to believe that we all have the potential to understand anything, but by and large, this projection was a humbling affair. it made the universe seem very large and me seem very small.
