it is kind of interesting though, that the first thing that happens (to almost everyone it seems) when they start gaining awareness in the astral is sexual activity. something that happens to me a few times a month now, is that i will fall asleep, move into an unconscious dream, sexual activity will take place immediately, and within moments i will become lucid.

an idea that is occurring to me involves the concept of the male and female forces or energies in this universe, not our physical interpretation, but more along the lines of positron/electron, or the positive/negative forces discussed in hermetic philosophy. uniting these forces seems to be the key to many mysteries, and im starting to wonder if perhaps this is what takes place in the higher levels of existence, but because we are still in the process of evolution in moving towards these higher levels, our way of deciphering this union revolves around the physical act itself, its what we've been accustomed to or taught... kind of like we get to the astral, these energies begin to combine in some fashion that we arent quite capable of fully understanding yet, so the first thing we assign to it is the physical human sexual act because it makes the most sense. maybe im just stating the obvious

you can generate this energy through sex, but once youve accumulated it, you can take the sex part out of it and use it for other things...maybe this is how you purify it?
