But what we give shape to does not necessarily mean that it exists outside of us. It may exist inside us!
And that's the zinger! Even our waking world perceptions occur "inside" of us. We get sensory perceptions from our optical and other nerves that tell us about the apparently stable environment that exists outside of our craniums.

So who's to say exactly where the sensory perceptions we're receiving in the dream/OBE state are coming from?! After years of keeping a dream journal, I've come to the conclusion that some of the things I've dreamed about and some of the places I've gone to in the OBE state are just not things I've ever experienced in my "waking world sensory input data stream."
