That's the part about the incorrect oversimplification and you indeed followed the explaination that far.

The only thing you can KNOW is by your own experience, from there it just gets more and more subjective. In science, repeatability of results, and the assumption of the concept of objectivity is what our technology is built upon. It process minimizes the number of assumptions of validity that are made per result/idea/concept.

Subjectivity that most people know of is really really subjective. Meaning it requires one of make many different and varied assumptions to accept.

Occam's razor is works fairly well because it tests this without going through all the philisophical hoops, so to speak. To paraphrase: The simplest explaination is the usualy the most correct. The extended version is the simplest explaination is the most likely to be the most correct because it involves the fewest assumptions.
