First of all, congratulations!

A few more seconds of energy raising and a strong will brought me to my feet completely, and after I had broken free of my fleshy prison the intensly heavy feeling almost fully vanished.
I was quite amused reading that part about the "fleshy prison". Nice term

However it was very dark in the basement and I couldn't see a thing except a few shapes outlined very slightly by the flashing light coming from the stereo I sleep near.
Hmm, how come you're sleeping in the basement? Aren't most bedrooms upstairs? (Just wondering, sorry!)

As soon as I rememberd seeing my In-Law, the basement door opened and down he walked to get his daily coke from the fridge. Did I ACTUALLY see him sitting at the table upstairs when I was projecting? I may never know.
Why don't you ask him where he was while you were out?

Thoughts? Facts? Was this really a projection or a very lucid dream?
Now, this was what I was planning to ask you! Since you just had your first OOBE, did it look/feel real? I'm asking this beacuse I may have had 2 OOBEs, and during the experience I was absolutely sure I was out of body. But the moment my consciousness is back in my body lying on the bed, I question whether the experience was an OOBE or some type of LD.

How can you be sure about this? I don't know. Can the most experienced ones tell us, because it is troubling me too. I was so excited and happy when I had those two experiences, but still I can't tell if they were "real" OOBEs or not.

I beleive that the problem lies into the abrupt shift of consciousness. I'd like to elaborate a bit in this (hope I'm not getting too off-topic, trying to help us all here!). It is my beleif, that all memories of our past waking-life experiences, are not too clear. I mean, when we recall something we lived an hour ago, we can't vividly re-create it in our mind's eye, we don't remember details of all things that were there (the ones we didn't notice). But that doesn't make us beleive that the memory is one of a dream, because we know we did experience that memory in real life, just an hour ago.

During an OOBE (if what we experience is an OOBE), we are sure that it's real; at that moment if feels real, we felt the exit from the body, the shift of consciousness, the movement. But upon re-entry, we're puzzled, and perhaps this is due to the abrupt movement of consciousness back to the body (together with the supposed "shadow memory download" problems). So my point is that even though we have memories of a real OOBE, we're only accustomed to shifting our consciousness back and forth while sleeping, hence we're considering that what we had experienced was nothing but a dream.

I don't know if this all makes sense, I hope it does. So, could the experienced projectors help us clear this out? We'd like to beleive that what we had experienced was "valid" OOBEs!
