Afterwards, I felt that I had connected with my granddad and was seeing things from his perspective. Even though he was alive, he had slipped into dementia and I think this is how he was seeing the world, his spirit had already begun to detatch. He was tryng to show me that he was fading and confused and wanted guidance into the afterlife. I connected to him often over the next couple of months to give whatever support I could. He was living in england and I in australia at the time, and I hadn't seen or heard from him for many years, since I was a kid, so it seemed strange at first to have connected so strongly but perhaps he chose me because I was the only person "listening". I don't really know though. That is a neat experience, no one really knows why someone connects so strongly at times like these but it's a strange and wonderful experience all rolled up into a melancholy type feeling isn't it?

Your experience reminds me of my Step Dad, he passed many years ago now. He and My mom were only married about 7 or 8 years. I was a teenager at the time and since he was her like umpteenth marriage I didn't really 'connect' with him as a father type figure. Towards the end of his time he and I sat for many hours and talked. We shared some special type of connection, can't really describe it. Other than perhaps I saw him in many different lights from father, friend, to man. Since he's been gone he has visited me many times in my dreams. I look forward to seeing him and I know that he knows that I 'get it'. Perhaps that's why he comes to me?

Kind of like the connection between you and your grandfather, it's a different level of compassion and understanding I would assume came with your experience. Has your grandfather visited with you since he's passed?
