I don't remember seeing that expression being used before, but I guess I know what you mean.

It felt like consciously falling asleep, like something suddenly shifted inside of me. Very specific feeling. "Phasing" is also a good description.

Just as a side note, has anyone read "The Chronicles of Amber" from Roger Zelazny? A great piece of sci-fi. They have these trump cards. When you focus on the image on the card, it pulls you in. Sort of reminded me of that.
