I've seen it posted elsewhere... but some people look at sleep paralysis as a gift because they can spring board it to OBE. The technique I've seen mentioned is to do some extensive lung-expanding deep breathing, which either pops you OOB (perhaps if you imagine yourself taking in a lot of energy as you breathe in) or brings you awake. I've also seen debates about SP only being helpful to OBE in that you are simply calling back your astral body which is already out, and going out again for another stroll, but only retaining the 2nd memory (vs. it being helpful because it puts you in a pre-OBE state and you have one OBE after that only). Either way I like the idea of turning sleep paralysis episodes into a positive.
Sleep paralysis can be pretty scary.
I had an SP incident where parts of my body were cramping and I could tell that I was grimacing in reaction to the pain, but I couldn't feel either the pain or the muscles in my face at all... it was very uncomfortable! I felt like I was under 40 ft of water and struggling to claw my way to the surface but I couldn't move. Eep!
