Robert Monroe talks of finding himself living someone else's life in another realm, one similar but significantly different to ours. It's just a thought, but what you're describing, to me, sounds like maybe what the person he displaced might have gone through.

I mean, just what did that guy experience when Monroe was 'living' in his body? Maybe he just blanked out?

You could try leaving a note for the other self, asking if they are present, to add to the note to let you know, as it is causing unnecessary disturbance in your life.

While absence of a note might mean nothing, an addition you don't recall writing certainly would.
