Well I believe you indeed did have an OBE on your first post. You where in the Real Time Zone a short while, but most projectors only stay there a short time before reality fluctuations set in and you shift into an astral plane, it sounds like thats where you went once visiting New York, also i think you should try and keep your obe's a little shorter and closer to home and become very skilled before taking off to other places, with training you can stay for longer periods of time in the RTZ and thus would be able to go visit New York ect... for longer periods without any real reaility flucuations, althought this takes alot of practice

Now it is also possible that at the stage of New York you where also dreaming and the dream sept into your obe, because of the mind split effect you can have multiple copys of your conciousness all running at the same time, and so its possible the REM state started up and sept into your obe ect...

About your dream with your Grandpa your father and the book i would say its most likely a dream, but could possibly be that the book was a doorway to an astral plane.
