U-Mos: i would recommend you imagining the screen like a video chat thing with the hole streaming the info across the space to make it stream That's exactly what I expected it to be like, but it didn't act like that. I assumed it would be like the magic mirror from the snow white movie, or Dumbledore's vision cauldron from Harry Potter.

Instead of showing me a live feed, it vanished, seeming to slide into my bedroom wall. I was like WTF? Where did it go? Only to have it reappear a few second later, sliding back OUT of my wall again.

So it's there floating in front of me again. And it showed me a few seconds of what appeared to be recorded "footage" of this person. It disappeared, snapped a few seconds of video, and brought it back to me.
