That's exactly what I expected it to be like, but it didn't act like that. I assumed it would be like the magic mirror from the snow white movie, or Dumbledore's vision cauldron from Harry Potter. that may be the source of your problem, about Dumbledore's pensieve it has prerecorded memory form the past and because the pensieve needed Dumbledore to take out the memory and put it in there made the screen need to fetch the memory form your friend, and its possible if you make another screen the memory will be there again like if it was stored there like the pensieve.
