Thanks for the responses. The only thing I can come up with is I am "trying" too hard also.

I don't really understand the "dry spells". To me it seems like it should be easier with time, not harder. Learning to ride a bike is difficult, but the more you do it the easier it is. Eventually it just happens, without even thinking. Seems like projecting should be the same.

I will keep plugging along, and try the things suggested.
