We've met elsewhere in the forum but I thought I'd be formal and greet you.

Have had pastlife memories too and know what you mean about a weird feeling dream. Also spent early school years in a kind of trance but, if I recollect correctly, I kind of went into the heads of other kids in my class- if that's possible- rather than around about the place.
To address some of your general queries: I recall a couple of spontaneous OBEs from childhood, which basically continued beyond into my adult years - no trauma associated, as far as I know. (Did have some close calls with asthma as a kid so it's possible the OBEs happened shortly after but the order of such events is all too vague.)
