Hey man. I actually found through trial and error that during the time I was doing just like you thinking, 'I can't get into trance', I WAS getting into trance but wasn't recognizing it. Trance is not so different or strange a state as you may think, and it happens much more quickly than you presently imagine, if your experiences are anything at all like mine. It seems like the exact thing.

Do something active, like walking around briskly, eating, or something, and pay attention to how your body feels. While fully physically active try for a moment to imagine yourself somewhere else, and notice details of what occurs.

Now, do whatever it is you do to get into trance, and notice the difference:

Do you notice you are more relaxed? Do you find that a certain light heaviness has set over you? Can you look at your eyelids and see little squiggles of light? If you try to imagine yourself somewhere else, can you do it more easily? Do you have small moments where you seem to be where you are imagining?

I guarantee that you ARE getting into trance. You just spend the majority of your trance going, "When will I get into trance." If you practice that much, I'll say if you're lightly drowsy when you try you are entering trance in about 5 minutes. (That is a key by the way. Practice when lightly drowsy).

Peace.
