me too and i dont really know what you mean by obtaining information as in science but if you speak of learning lets say from books. while out of body i think it is possible but you need a very tricky method because your logical mathematical and analytical thinking are normally very weak while out of body. look at it like that:

You are out of body. you find an interesting book and want to read it. you open the book and you see that there is text. you will possibly see the shapes of the letters but you wont recognize them as letters or it will be very hard to do so so reading a book while out of body is kinda impossible. the same is true for audio and video tapes.
