Im wondering if OBE ability is passed on or if some people are awarded the ability somehow.

There are many theories revolving around this. Many believe that the majority of people are born with specific potent abilities (that vary from person to person), but that all abilities are available to everyone if time is spent developing them. That which determines which abilities are natural to someone has be theorized to originate from many things, such as a hidden gene, family acceptance and encouragement at an early age, and/or past life experiences and progress.

I can talk with both of my parents about AP. Sometimes I do wonder if I am telling them too much because my mom tells me that I need God. I have my beliefs but the way she tells me is as if the whole AP thing is an evil threat. People fear what they don't understand.
