Congrats on the experience!

I can't comment on your dream, but I've had similar OBE experiences. I had a general lack of control as well and it was all I could do to slowly turn myself around and shoot back into my body.

I especially like the golf analogy for OBEing. You can try to do a power drive and hit it somewhere in the trees, get somewhere you want to go (like the green) but lack the certain "touch" necessary to really get exactly where you want to go... but we all know golf explains life's great mysteries - well a few beyond life in this case.
