Jim...I'm also leaving Toronto in a couple of months and heading to the DR...please keep me posted (either on this thread or PMs), I can use all the info I can get, specially from a fellow "Torontonian."

You mentioned running a few online businesses...care to share some more info me? The reason I ask is because I'm actually just starting up an online business and I am very excited about the fact that I can come to the DR and bring my work with me.

Best of luck to you in your move! I know I am sure loving it here...

Be advised that unless you can run your online business from an internet cafe, you will have to make prior arrangements for internet access before you arrive, whether it be through a friend here (like I am doing) or as part of your hotel/condo rental as iIt takes a few months to get a phone line hooked up for your own high spped access. There are other options any many on this board can be more helpful about it than I can.

Also be prepared to either sell off all your stuff or put it into long term storage as you are limited to 44 lbs in 2 suitcases and another 11 lbs in a carry on bag. Mind you the people at the Toronto Airport usually let you off for most of your overweight charges. (I was 47 lbs overweight my last trip and they only charged me for 20 lbs) At 7 bucks a pound, it can add up to alot of money if you bring too much with you.

I find that many things are much cheaper here, but then again many things are more expensive too. It does tend to balance out in my favour though specially if you are a smoker as a carton of Marlboro's is only about 8 bucks Canadian rather than 8 bucks a pack back home.
