We always tend to think that we are inmmune from what ails others... The folly of the ego..
I don´t know the actual statistics but I have witnessed an alarming increase of AIDS cases in this small non touristic town.. When one begins to see 13 year olds from middle class families diagnosed with this awful disease a thing not so uncommon, it is time to pay attention..
Education and protection is the key.. Let it not be a taboo subject when you speak to Dominicans or anyone else. Bring it into the light as much as you can. If you are going to be with a person who earns their living through sex, enlighten them.. warn them.. educate them!! You may be saving not only you life and theirs, but several others as well.
