SERENA WILLIAMS TO HIGHLIGHT DAY SESSION ON WEDNESDAY, JULY 11

STANFORD, Calif. (www.BankOfTheWestClassic.com) - Defending tournament champion Serena Williams will play her first 2012 Bank of the West Classic match on Wednesday, July 11.

Williams' opening match will take place during Wednesday's day session, with the contest not to be played before 3 p.m. Following a first-round bye, Williams will either face a qualifier or Stanford junior Nicole Gibbs, the 2012 NCAA singles and doubles champion.

Williams added another title to her trophy collection yesterday, outlasting Agnieszka Radwanska 6-1, 5-7, 6-2 to capture her fifth career Wimbledon title and 14th major championship.

Currently ranked No. 6, Williams has now won 42 career titles. Williams, who defeated Marion Bartoli 7-5, 6-1 in last year's Bank of the West Classic singles final, is bidding to become the first player to win the Bank of the West Classic in consecutive seasons since Kim Clijsters accomplished the feat in 2005 and 2006.

Monday's order of play will be announced later this afternoon. The 2012 Bank of the West Classic will be held from July 9-15 at the Taube Family Tennis Center at Stanford University.
