Kerber has played extremely well in her last two matches. I haven't seen her play much before this week, but she's really impressed me.

In another upset, Nester and Mirnyi lost to Bracciali (who?) and Knowle.
Back to back straight sets victories over Makarova and McHale is good form.

Been an amazing ascent from her since reaching her nadir here last year when she lost to Robson in round one. She is number 4 in the race right now (just above Errani).

Might just be the change of outfit, but I actually think her conditioning has also improved from where it was at the beginning of the clay season.

The only real negative I've seen from her this year is that, at times, when matches have got close/been going against her, she has gone into a downward spiral emotionally. Relying on her coach to pull her round.

Bepa basically broke herself and wisely retires. It'll be Clijsters vs Kerber next round.
Has the makings of a good 'un. Kim the aggressor, Angelique more the counter-puncher. Kerber is a good barometer these days so it will give us a good idea of where Kim's level is at - she'll have to come up with a lot of good shots.
