I've never understood this: Why is it that they always put matches from the previous day on second instead of first?

Isn't it also that the tourney has already told the players in the first match that they'll play at 11:00 am? So they don't want to change that commitment.

Everyone else is scheduled "to follow", so the thinking is that another set or a few makes less of a difference to their preparation.

Just when it looks like Pova will close this out, Klara manages to outslug her in a few rallies and break, to serve at 2-5.

Maria's forehand has looked stronger and more consistent than her backhand to me today (only been watching since mid-second set).
