Since this anecdote appeared on cnnsi.com, you have to assume the legal department sufficiently vetted the story. Nonetheless, there is always the possibility it was a lie.

If this appeared on a fan site or blog, less credence would have to be given to it.

Humm but there is nothing wrong about this story, it is just a matter of the fan perception.
