ok, after watching the last 3 games I'm not so sure any more... So who was the last #1 seed to lose in the first round of GS?

I was wondering that too. Myskina and Kuznetsova have both lost in the first round as defending champs, but neither were the top seed.

On the men´s side I bet you have to go all the way back to Karlovic beating Hewitt at Wimbledon. No idea about the women.
