Fair Play Trophy goes to Tomas Berdych

The Fair Play Trophy awarded on the occasion of the POWER HORSE WORLD TEAM CUP 2012 has this year gone to Tomas Berdych. The decision to present the award to the Czech was made by an international jury of tennis journalists along with the captains of the eight teams competing in Düsseldorf. A valuable sculpture created the Hornemann jewellers, the trophy was handed over by Thomas Königsbauer, the CEO of the title sponsors Power Horse. He was accompanied by the tournament director Dietloff von Arnim and the former winners James Blake (2006 and 2008), Eric Jelen (1991) and Rainer Schuettler (2009).

'He’s a player who’s always quiet, relaxed and modest both on and off court. His fair and perfect manner makes him a role model for youngsters,' said Dietloff von Arnim when talking about Berdych. He immediately showed his gratitude by saying, 'Thanks very much for the support. It’s a great honour for me being a part of the group of exceptional players.'

The Fair Play Trophy was awarded for the 25th time this year. 2011’s joint winners were Sweden’s Robin Söderling and Philipp Kohlschreiber (Germany).
LOL. I'm still a Tomas fan (man crushes die hard), but this isn't exactly in sync with the new stories we've heard about him in the last year.
