I'm wondering if the fast indoor court had anything to do with it. I imagine Kerber's lefty shots might have more potency. It would also highlight Sharapova's serving issues and movement.
I watched most of the match. Maria was up a break in both sets and Kerber actualy had more double faults. Kerber was 5 for 5 in break point opportunities and Maria was only 3 of 11. I thought Angelique played very aggressive from about the middle of the first set on and definitely deserved the win.
