Oh yes, totally digging this one. Hearkens back to the sort of 90s music I grew up with, & definitely has a slightly more club-hardy, darker edge to it. The thing for me is that I just
cannot stand
big, anthemic power ballads - which is more or less what BTW, EOG, and Hair all work as. Part of it's that I just don't care for uplifting, jubilant music in that vein; the other side of this haterade-coin, though, is that I do wonder to what extent Gaga's doing these "anthems" because of her whole Mother Monster, Full of Grace, schtick. It's not that I don't believe she cares about all the freaks & geeks, but that I have no interest in group therapy.
Anyway, yeah, Marry the Night - this I like. I have a feeling this album's going to be a real mixed bag for me, but I'm still absolutely salivating to finally hear the studio v. of Gov't Hooker.
