I've had Jeeps almost all my adult life. My last Wranger, I had for 17 years, and sold it for almost what I paid for it. I only wish it would have had a hardtop, so the A/C would have worked better. They're almost as maneuverable as a Volkswagon beetle.

I've got a Land Rover TD5 now, which is the same underneath as the Defender, but more luxurious. (no automatics in Defenders either, a standard in this city is insane)

Land Rover is the way to go. They are built like tanks underneath.
