I thought Hailee Steinfeld was fantastic (and I'm another who thinks True Grit is the best of this lot of films), but Supporting? I know they like to do that (both the studio who puts out the for-your-consideration ads, and the academy) especially for young and up-and-coming talent, but by what possible stretch is that a supporting role?

I'm still ticked Kevin Spacey won supporting for The Usual Suspects, though, so what do I know.
If you just looked at the trailers and posters for the movie, you'd never in a million years guess that the little girl is the main character. Big images:

Hollywood doesn't think people will come to see a western with an adolescent female main character. They might be right, but the supporting actress nom is a side effect of that.

Disturbing, huh?
