I can live with Jeter winning the award. He is the heart of the franchise that won the World Series. He's a perennial Gold Glove winner and is the best shortstop in baseball. He's one of the good guys also, giving a lot of time and money to drug and alchohol abuse prevention efforts among teenagers.

I was surprised to see that no one in baseball has won the award since 1995. When you factor in that, with the Yankees winning the Series, I think Jeter's a pretty logical choice.
The best shortstop in baseball plays third base for the Yankees.
