I think Kvitova may be better off losing now so she can go to the AO with a bit of extra rest.

I think she just has to reach the same round as Woz to pass her (mayyyybe do one better). With Wozniacki's injured wrist, and Kvitova's great form, it seems likely to happen.

Yes(reach the same round or if Wozniacki loses before the 4th round) but Azarenka and Sharapova also have a realistic shot at #1. You can add with help(meaning they will have to win AO and others contenders will have to lose early) Stosur, Radwanska and Bartoli.
