I never realized this rule existed but it makes perfect sense.
Federer will open against Tsonga on Sunday, while Nadal and Fish will play in the late match. The winners will meet in the next round, ensuring that only one player has two wins heading into the third matches.

It says that after one match each in a group the winners play each other and the losers play each other. This way you don't have the possibility the semis being decided before anyone plays a third match (two 2-0s and two 0-2s).
So after two matches each it will ALWAYS be 2-0, 1-1, 1-1, 0-2. I never realized that!
