My bad, Patrick. I miscounted.

Is this the first year they have not had a play-in event? I thought that was a tradition.

The first Asian Hopman Cup was played in 2006. I'm not sure how the 8th spot was handled before that.

I guess they got an Asian nation in.

It's too bad what would be epic - the men's match of a China-Denmark tie is unlikely to ever be played
