I'm sure there are a dozen really good excuses for this particular schedule. But every time I see the "non-marquee" match over on Grandstand, I keep thinking of Leona Helmsley's remark about "the little people". I'm guessing Armstrong isn't playable still, so Grandstand isn't the insult. The exclusion from the big stage is the insult. All Grand Slam semi-finals should be equally valued. Not so here. But heck, it's a newcomer and an Australian, so why should we care. Well, I do, and assuming there's a livestream I'll watch every minute of that match.
I'm wondering if it has anything to do with the women having to play the very next day. The matches are starting only a hour apart from each other. If they were on the same court and the first match was a blitz and the second was grueling, the winner of the second might be at a disadvantage the next day.

(But it's most likely about selling tickets.)
