I was struck by what he said after the tribute. Something like, "I'd be thrilled if you have me back."

Was he forced out by CBS?

It looks like he is being forced out. According to his wiki page, he had hoped to call NFL games late in the 2010 season but he was "omitted" from the announcing roster. That's a chop. And now this? Fishy.
