now that rain has washed out two days of plan, the USTA has no good options left: 4 rounds to go and only 4 days to play them in. It is all very well to talk of building roofs, but those are expensive solutions. Some simple project management practices would have helped: the first rule of project management is - assume something will go wrong! and set aside buffers for them - all buffers should be at the END of the project timeline.
what the USTA should have done (in the first place) is keep thursday and friday free of the 'main events' like Men's and Women's singles, fill them up with doubles, juniors, veterans and whatnot - then they would have had some options.. now they don't. All life is a project!
