(1)Galina Voskoboeva (KAZ): Hard to pick against someone who made a Premier 5 quarterfinal.
(2)Marina Erakovic (NZL): It worked in Wimbledon, so why not?
(3)Stephanie Dubois (CAN): I've never really liked her game, but there's no one else in the section.
Kurumi Nara (JPN): Because I said so.
(27)Alexa Glatch (USA): She'll both win and lose a 6-0 or 6-1 set before her tournament's over.
(32)Olga Savchuk (UKR): Win one for Bondarenkoland!
(7)Stephanie Foretz-Gacon (FRA): When in doubt, pick the seed.
(8)Urszula Radwanska (POL): If she gets past ALG that is.
Michaella Krajicek (NED): Didn't she make the final in Kuala Lumpur? What happened since then?
(10)Zuzana Kucova (SVK): Since Miss Ondraskova is AWOL, she'll have to carry the Zuz flag.
(11)Arantxa Parra Santonja: Seemed like she had a good early part of the year but nothing since then.
Sesil Karatantcheva (KAZ): Hasn't done much since coming back from her ban for PEDs. I wonder why...
(13)Yung-Jan Chan (TPE): She made the 3rd round of Wimbledon, didn't she?
Yaroslava Shvedova (KAZ): As the YCWJ contest-runner, I must root for a wooden spoon winner to have a chance to defend her title.
(15)Renata Voracova (CZE): Pick the seed...
(18)Aleksandra Wozniak (CAN): On the comeback trail, should have an easy time getting through.
