Svetlana Kuznetsova, Mercury Insurance Open Presented by Tri-City Medical Center defending singles champion, has withdrawn from the tournament due to a groin injury.

With Kuznetsova’s withdrawal, American Vania King will move into the Mercury Insurance Open singles main draw. King, ranked No. 88 in the WTA singles rankings, captured doubles titles at Wimbledon and the US Open in 2010 with Yaroslava Shvedova.
