This slam is going to have some pretty big upsets based on the simple fact that there are more than 8 legitimate contenders. At least one of them has to lose in the fourth round.

I would say the entire top 10 has okay odds. Add in Goerges and Kuznetsova as dark horses. Then there are those with a shot at beating a contender and making a QF but not winning. I'm thinking of A Rad, Kanepi, Kleybanova, Petrova, Pennetta, and AMG.

It amounts to what we in the scientific community refer to as a cluster****.
