Hadn't thought about this- but, this is an excellent point. You can get some real top players on this court, but this court does feel quite more intimate and close up than Armstrong and obviously Ashe.
Yes. Grandstand absolutely rocks. Especially during the day. At night, it can be different. Gulbis/Robredo was a lot of fun. But when it's two unknown, non-American women, there can very well be only 10 people in the entire stadium. It's too exposed. Too isolating. Bizarre feeling.

Sometimes late at night on Armstrong can be really great when there isn't an American playing and fans who don't know any better are somewhere else. That scenario got me my photo op with Snezana 3 years ago (Jankovic vs. Bammer). And then there was Hewitt/Calleri, where I left with a whole new appreciation for both men--and the Argentine/Aussie rivalry. We hung out with the Argentines.

At night, Armstrong can be very intimate. You almost feel like you're indoors. I just can't explain it. But during the day, or when there's an American on the court, just forget it. It's not much fun at all.
